Keep Letterboxd for the diary, lists and people you value. Try ReelRecs alongside it only if you want another way to find candidates or inspect a personal score. Begin with a small manual trial. This guide does not promise imports, account linking or synchronization between the services.

Give each app a clear job
Letterboxd describes film logging, reviews, lists and following others. If those already help you remember films and discover ideas, keep using them. ReelRecs’ guide describes account and taste setup, followed by For You suggestions and a personal score explanation. Consider that additional workflow when deciding what fits you remains difficult.
Keep the trial small
- Choose a few films you remember well. Rate them in ReelRecs according to what you thought; complete the app’s required setup.
- Leave your Letterboxd diary and lists where they are. Do not copy a whole archive just to see whether a second tool is useful.
- Inspect several suggestions or look up a title you were already considering. Read the premise and available explanation.
- If you want to keep a candidate, save it manually in the app or note you plan to check later.
- After several choosing occasions, ask whether the added effort produced useful options. Keep using the second app only if the benefit is clear to you.
Allow for separate histories
A rating or bookmark entered in one service should not be assumed to appear in the other. Decide where you will maintain your diary and where you will check tonight’s candidates. A short note of titles to revisit can be enough to bridge the two during the trial.
Skip the extra app if your current lists and friends already provide the choices you want, or if maintaining another profile feels burdensome. If you do try ReelRecs, its saving guide shows a title being bookmarked and recovered through Profile. It does not demonstrate transferring a Letterboxd list.
